“Shall I compare thee to a Summer’s day?
Thou art more lovely and more temperate.
Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,
And summer’s lease hath all too short a date…”

(SON.18)

Comment. As we will try to demonstrate in this article, the beautiful lines of this famous sonnet are desperately obsolete.

Global imperialism, under American guidance, needs to impose a superstructure on all colonized nations. The term ‘colonized’ includes those nations tied to various financial or military structures such as NATO, the IMF etc.

The superstructure requires the destruction of traditional communities and the imposition of a way of life. Argentinian writer Manuel Freytas states genially that the pivot of the new life-system is the Alienated Programmed Individual.

The new mass-individual lives in an immense social market, in which even human relations are objects of consumption and investment. Even a romantic relationship calls for an ROI (return on investments).

The collective sentiment of the Alienated Programmed Mass, as also expressed by judges ruling on family law, makes one point clear. In the family, the violent entity is man. And the judicial sentences accurately reflect the media construct whereby man is violent and woman is the eternal victim.

The capitalist system, to exercise its hegemony, creates stereotypes in which the mass – the blunt monster with the uncounted heads – confusedly sees a mirror of itself. In this system and construct man is redefined as irrational and weak, therefore prone to practice violence, whereas the woman is the carrier of a new astuteness. She is refined, clever and calculating.

In America, home of repressive tolerance, such behavioral prototypes have been popularized and sanctioned via garbage TV sitcoms and newspaper cartoons.

Consequently, stupidity has become a social phenomenon. And man, as nominal head of the traditional family, embodies the symbol of such stereotypes, the symbol of a generalized dementia.

The corporate, monopolized media has perfectly conveyed the model with the objective of creating millions of Simpsons-like families.

Woman, in the structure of mass control, as envisioned by Washington’s think-tanks, breaks the monotony of life-as-consumption. She is the voice of reason, who brings normalcy in a man who finds pleasure in beer, mass-sports and pub-friends of the same ilk.

In absolute capitalism – such is the current development phase – the dominant elite wants unlimited production of goods. This requires the removal of the remnants of old-fashioned bourgeois-capitalism, including any form of sexual discrimination (or difference)

Woman is ready to exercise a new hegemony inside a system of gated democracy and criminalized dissent.

Garbage TV programs, articles and books written by elite-hired mental eunuchs, reflect the emergence of the new stereotypes, the carriers of the Gospel of infinite consumption.

Among the stereotypes, the career woman arrogant and cruel towards subordinates (counterpart of the successful manager) and the Programmed Alienated Individual. Last but not least, the new ostensive androgyny model, as an extreme reaction to the anti-human character of capitalist society.

Not long ago, the desperation of the plebes was channeled towards the hope of a seat in the catholic heaven of the after-life. The model has lost its appeal. Now the plebes and the shrinking middle class can look forward to a future when women will be like men, to the glory of the capitalist system and of the mega-profiteers laughing all the way to the bank.

Global-imperial capitalism causes an increase in unemployment and social marginalization. In Europe, where these events are still reported, a growing number of men commit suicide after having lost a job and being unable to find another cannot therefore support their families.

But in the new model, man is no longer the weight bearer of the traditional family. He loses his role of family leader and guarantor of a cultural formation for his progeny.

Of course, not long ago, man’s traditional role was still played in the context of the conflict Labor vs. Capital. But the presence of a meaningful Left prevented the explosion of social schizophrenia and the destruction of popular communities, including unions and student groups.

The destruction of the foundations of the traditional class society, including the family, a residue of primitive communism (as Marcuse explained), enables the capitalistic-imperialistic power to dominate and manipulate all social cells.

Even the family becomes an avenue of competition. Man and woman compete to assume a hegemonic role, according to the needs of capital – the same capital that dictates the rules of the current butchery. They both wave their pay-check and assert their family role according to the production of income.

Gated democracy requires this for the upkeep of class exploitation and for the support of the industrial-military complex, the planner of genocides, global in range and scales.

The woman-manager is the emerging dominant human type, the pivot of imperialist society, the NATO with the human face who kills while smiling – who smiles and murders while she smiles and whose tongue more poisons than the adder’s tooth.

The new imperialist witch only deals with her equals, the heartless manager, and shares with him the same material interests.

Gated democracy requires gated relations and connections. In America, on the one hand there is the widely-promoted Simpsons family model. On the other, a new family prototype where material interests are the common ground of family members sharing the capitalistic and imperialistic ideology.

The post-democratic regime, based on the crystallization of an ideology (capitalism, imperialism, endless war), yields solitude and relations without affection.

The promotion of the androgyny model (in the USA) also defines the psycho-somatic traits of the Alienated Programmed Individual. Homosexual relations (as an alternative to prostitutes) are the morphine to bear the weight of a capitalism ever more anti-human that wants to conquer the hearts and souls of everyone.

The powerful gay lobby, along with the multinationals, promote the culture of death (drugs, androgyny model, trans-humanism) exalting the late-nazi culture with stars and stripes. Canonical sexual relations become more exclusive. For the rejected it is necessary to create a diversion, legitimized by the mass media.

The androgyny model corresponds to a particular Alienated Programmed Individual who has little interest for social questions. He is interested in the spectacularization of private life, prelude to an existence consisting of goods bought or sold.

The Alienated Programmed Individual gradually loses the sense of his own character and soul because he sees no other alternative to the very program that has alienated him

On the other hand imperialism requires all this to wrap people with a mantle of indifference towards its genocides and crimes committed worldwide.

Given the above, those who, in a burst of anti-establishment feelings, were to address a lovely girl with the lines of sonnet 18, are – I am afraid – terribly demode’ as the French would say.

In the Sonnet. Sonnet 18 is probably the most famous among Shakespeare’s sonnets. The famous opening lines rank # 2 after “To be or not to be” in popular impact. Technically it was dedicated to a man, but in these days of equal rights and non-discrimination, the lines may be as well dedicated to a charming woman.

PS. I am indebted to S. Zecchinelli for the key ideas expressed in this article.

Though all the world o’erwhelm them, to men’s eyes.”

(Hamlet, act 1, sc. 2)

Comment. A victory, or even a partial victory for justice are uneasy accomplishments in the age of unrestrained imperialism and unrestrained capitalism. Therefore the occurrence of even a partial victory is an occasion for celebration. And, as King Philip of France would say,

“To solemnize this day, the glorious sun
Stays his course, and plays the alchymist;
Turning, with splendour of his precious eye,
The meagre cloddy earth to glittering gold.” (King John, 4,3)

A Guatemalan court has sentenced former US-backed Guatemalan dictator Efraín Ríos Montt to 80 years in prison after being found guilty of genocide and crimes against humanity. Ríos Montt was convicted of overseeing the slaughter of more than 1,700 people in the Guatemala’s Ixil region after seizing power in 1982. In its own way the ruling is historic. It marks the first time when a former head of state is found guilty of genocide in his own country. The judge in the case has also instructed prosecutors to launch an immediate investigation of “all others” connected to the crimes.

The current Guatemalan President Otto Pérez Molina was among those implicated during the trial’s testimony as he served as a commander in Ríos Montt’s regime. In fact, he bitterly fought to stop the trial and, of course, has denied that there was any genocide. In a TV interview, he said that the verdict would “discourage foreign investment in Guatemala” (Translation: multinational corporations could (perhaps) no longer be able to employ slave labor and call the state to execute those who attempt to organize a union, as in fact it happened with the convicted criminal).

In fact, at this very moment, Canadian and US corporations are attempting to mine gold and silver in land where the indigenous Mayans live, against their bitter opposition. Community organizers have been killed and Pérez Molina has imposed a state of siege in various parts of the country. Very recently, the local press printed a wiretap transcript of the head of security at one of these mines, (the San Rafael mining operation), where the security chief says to his men, regarding demonstrators who were outside the mine, he says, “Goddamn dogs, they do not—they do not understand that the mine generates jobs. We must eliminate these animal pieces of [s.t]. We cannot allow people to establish resistance. Kill those sons of [b...s].” And the security people later opened fire. As journalist Allain Nairn (who provided this information) said, “This is the way foreign companies operate, not just in Guatemala, but around the world. I mean, it’s this kind of non-enforcement of law that made possible the Bangladesh factory collapse that killed over a thousand workers.”

It is a partial victory, as the judgment will be appealed. And, given a long list of historical precedents, “pressure” will be applied to make sure that unrestricted and destructive capitalism has its way. After all, in recent history (1954), the US, at the behest of the Dole Company, invaded Guatemala after the citizens had democratically elected President Arbenz. Then there was the danger of communism and Guatemala stood to lose its well-earned title of “banana republic”. Now, we’ll have to wait and see.

So far, when corporations have cast the eye of covetousness on the resources of a foreign country, they have won. They can summon military, sabotaging and countless other resources to “establish democracy”, such as the one managed and administered by the subject convicted criminal. While at home, the same multinationals can safely count on the vain and credulous flattery of the corporate media.

There is one interesting twist. Ronald Reagan called Montt “a man of great personal integrity”. But that’s no wonder, so was Augusto Pinochet of Chile and the (now convicted) murderers of the Argentine junta. At least until, indulging themselves in a very false and favorable opinion of their own abilities, they irritated Britain by invading the Falklands.

The twist has to do with the US involvement. The Guatemalan army used a strategy of massacre. They would wipe out villages that did not submit to army rule. In an interview with a journalist at the time, the soldiers described how they would conduct interrogations. They asked, “Who here gives food to the insurgents? Who here criticizes the government?” And if they didn’t tell them what they wanted to hear, they would strangle them to death, or they would slit their throats.

If the people being questioned were women and they were pregnant, they would slit them open with machetes. They would make people dig mass graves. They would then make them watch as they shot their neighbors in the head, in the face, in the back of the skull. And this just happened in village after village after village.

It wasn’t an armed confrontation, because the villagers were unarmed. The soldiers were armed with American and Israeli weapons. The villagers were not. It was straight-up murder.

The strategy had been developed in conjunction with the U.S. In fact, the U.S. military attache in Guatemala at the time, Colonel George Maynes proudly stated that that he himself had helped develop what he orwellianly called “village sweep” tactic. There was a U.S. trainer there, an American Green Beret, who was training the military, This was, in his words, a “technique” of how to subdue towns, and that’s what they did. Now Ríos Montt has been convicted for it. Will the US military trainers be arraigned and brought to justice? Will Elliot Abrams and other policy-making officials of the Reagan Administration? It’s very unlikely, of course, but a narrow path has been open in the wilderness of injustice and crimes against humanity.

Montt attempted to get away from the Court when the sentence was pronounced, but the judge ordered him arrested and taken to prison immediately.

Rigoberta Menchu, Nobel Peace Prize winner, present in Court said, “It’s a very big day for Guatemala. It’s a very big day for those of us who have defended our lives in difficult circumstances, very painful circumstances of great isolation, of exile. It looks like our period of pain is ending, because we hope that from now on we will be accepted by Guatemalan society, in our polarized society, the society that carries the burden of past genocide on their backs.”

For once foul deeds have risen to men’s eyes, though the criminals involved believed they could perennially overwhelm them.

In the play. Hamlet has a presentment after Horatio’s report about the appearance of the ghost.

Buys out the law.”

(Hamlet, act 3, sc. 3)

Comment. Julian Assange is a prisoner in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London. Meanwhile governmental agencies from various “democratic” countries are deploying a vast array of resources to destroy Wikileaks and to arrest its founder, the said Julian Assange.

A man who, along with Bradley Manning, should be granted the Nobel Peace prize – at least in the opinion of the thinking section of the populace. Bradley Manning is he who leaked to the world the video where American soldiers in a helicopter over Baghdad massacre 12 civilians, including children, while laughing and calling them “mother-f….ing bas…..ds”.

In London, British police in protective uniform stand around the clock on the steps of the Ecuadorian embassy. All this a few feet away from Harrods, the iconic store symbolic of obscene wealth, where the elite goes to eat, as well as to purchase jewels worth millions, or islands or other sundry items of flashy consumption.

From Scotland Yard’s own declarations the cost of blockading the Ecuadorian Embassy since Jan 31, 2013 when Assange took refuge, has been 4.5 million dollars, so far.

But why such pertinacious perseverance in arresting an innocent man by the US of A? (The trumped-up charges of a sexual assault in Sweden are as believable as the weapons of mass destructions in Iraq – and the US imperial cabal is obviously behind the exercise.)

Discounting the self-humiliating connivance of the corporate media, Wikileaks did not breach any “national security”. Rather, it breached the sense of self-righteousness of the imperialist cabal, by exposing the criminal nature of various operations, orwellianly described as “regime change”, “nation building”, “making the world safe for democracy”, “protecting human rights” and sundry other comical turns of phrase.

As well as exposing the sordid and pompous worthlessness of some politicians. The various leaked embassy reports often show the creeping contempt of politicians and diplomats for each other – contempt disguised under a veneer of mutual flattery and obsequiousness.

Typical, for example is the report of the American ambassador in Italy on Berlusconi, the farcical ex-prime minister, just condemned to 4 years in prison for fiscal and tax fraud. In the document the ambassador reports on his request to Berlusconi to send Italian troops to Afghanistan to build the equally orwellian “coalition of the willing”.

“He likes to feel important and sought after – says the ambassador – when I asked him to send 2,000 troops to Afghanistan, he answered by saying that he will send 4,000.”

This is the real damage of Wikileaks – to expose a relatively narrow class of individuals who, all in all, debase the dignity of what used to be called conscience. Simultaneously, Wikileaks has brought under the eyes of those who want to see the evident sordidness of a political system that calls itself “democratic”
But the narrow class of the imperialist cabal is perhaps unduly worried about being exposed. The ignorance and indifference of the masses are immense. For example, it was reported in a recent article that, based on a sample of people interviewed in the aftermath of the Boston bombing, of those who at least had heard of the name before, the majority thought that Chechnya was the Czech Republic…

Besides, a useful prejudice which has obtained the sanction of time and precedent produces the effect of truth. One such prejudice is that the state “protects” its citizens from the “aggression” of evil foreigners “envious of the liberties” that the citizens supposedly enjoy.

But returning to Wikileaks, one other most instructive document is a report from the US ambassador in Venezuela on how to overthrow the Chavez government. The document is long and available on line. Here only the highlights are given.

The Chavez regime, writes the ambassador, is “undemocratic”. The USAID/OTI – that is the United States Agency for International Development / Office of Transition Initiatives (nomen omen!) – and the embassy will “focus on strengthening democratic institutions and spaces through non-partisan cooperation with many sectors of Venezuelan society” (translation, pump millions of $ into creating “spontaneous” groups inimical to the elected government, to create disruption, acts of sabotage and similar).

The ambassador goes on and I quote,

“The strategy is:
1) Strengthening Democratic Institutions,
2) Penetrating Chavez’ Political Base,
3) Dividing Chavismo,
4) Protecting Vital US business, and
5) Isolating Chavez internationally. “

Could not be clearer. But let’s continue,

“OTI has supported over 300 Venezuelan civil society organizations with technical assistance, capacity building, connecting them with each other and international movements, and with financial support upwards of $15 million”

The operative words here are “capacity building”, that translated means, “buying with money what not long ago was called treason”. We know only too well how in venal minds the slightest hope of personal emolument outweighs any consideration of public advantage or private principle.

It gets even better,
“OTI supports the Freedom House (FH) “Right to Defend Human Rights” program with $1.1 million. Simultaneously through Development Alternatives Inc. (DAI), OTI has also provided 22 grants to human rights organizations, totaling several millions. FH provides training and technical assistance to 15 different smaller and regional human rights organizations on how to research, document, and create resistance through a specialized software and proven techniques.”

“…..The FH exchanges allowed Venezuelan human rights organizations to visit Mexico, Guatemala, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Costa Rica, and Washington DC to educate their peers regarding the human rights situation. Also, DAI has brought dozens of international leaders to Venezuela, university professors, NGO members, and political leaders to participate in workshops and seminars, who then return to their countries with a better understanding of the Venezuelan reality and as stronger advocates for the Venezuelan opposition.” (Translation, offer of paid trip and vacation to corruptible intelligentsia in exchange for the endorsement of US terrorism and subversive activities.)

Among other initiatives there was the (of course all US paid) dispatch of various individuals to selected poor area and distribute “contributions” suggesting that all will become less poor when Chavez’ government is swept away. This under the rubric “Dividing Chavismo”.

… And so on – all in an effort to obtain from the influence of corruption the obedience that, otherwise, could only be obtained by a military aggression and invasion.

Clearly, notwithstanding the millions invested the ambassador did not succeed. And maybe, just maybe, as some contend, Chavez had to be “isolated” by other means. After all hyper-Christian Pastor Pat Robertson advocated his assassination on corporate national television.

Most of us – at least those who have the temerity of independent thought – already knew, suspected or sensed the sordid, corrupt and disgusting double dealing of imperialist politics.

But Wikileaks has made it impossible to deny it – even by those who, clouded by prejudice or ignorance, refuse even to be perplexed by the fictional stories propounded by the corporate media.

Hence the hatred for Assange, in the face of the boiling undercurrent of disgust at his persecution.

Which does not mean that the imperialist cabal will not continue and even strengthen its determination (like the cartoon character laughing with glee at his prospect of world domination).

After all the imperialists have a long history of immunity in “contaminating their fingers with base bribes” (Julius Caesar) and of “setting the seeds and roots of shame and iniquity.” (Pericles)

In the play. Meditation of the king, torn by the remorse for the killing of his brother - money may buy justice but not soothe the pangs of conscience. Notwithstanding his crime, he appears more human than many of today’s “democratic” rulers.

“If that the heavens do not their visible spirits
Send quickly down to tame these vile offences,
It will come,
Humanity must perforce prey on itself,
Like monsters of the deep.”

(King Lear, act 2, sc. 2)

Comment. The relentless and continuous crimes of the Zionist state cannot but excite the regret and indignation of every spectator whose mind is not totally darkened by religious or racial prejudice.

Albert Einstein, for one, wrote extensively about Palestine, Israel, Zionism and Judaism. And he said, “The first and most important necessity is the creation of a modus vivendi [way of living] with the Arab people.”

Einstein inflicted a wound on the superstition that claims any superior rights for Jews. He called for “complete equality” for Palestinian Arabs as the “most important aspect” of Jewish policy,

“The most important aspect of our policy must be our ever-present, manifest desire to institute complete equality for the Arab citizens living in our midst … The attitude we adopt toward the Arab minority will provide the real test of our moral standards as a people.”

As well as a scientist, Einstein was a philosopher, a humanitarian and a peace activist. What did he have to say about Palestine and Israel?
“The strength of our whole movement [Zionism] rests in its moral justification, with which it must stand or fall.”

Those unfamiliar with the history of the Israeli/Palestinian conflict, or have been told that Israel is “only defending itself,” may want to meditate on the following words by Einstein, written on the occasion of a visit to the US by Begin,

“Among the most disturbing political phenomena of our times is the emergence in the newly created state of Israel of the “Freedom Party” (Tnuat Haherut), a political party closely akin in its organization, methods, political philosophy and social appeal to the Nazi and Fascist parties. It was formed out of the membership and following of the former Irgun Zvai Leumi, a terrorist, right-wing, chauvinist organization in Palestine.
The current visit of Menachem Begin, leader of this party, to the United States is obviously calculated to give the impression of American support for his party in the coming Israeli elections, and to cement political ties with conservative Zionist elements in the United States. Several Americans of national repute have lent their names to welcome his visit. It is inconceivable that those who oppose fascism throughout the world, if correctly informed as to Mr. Begin”s political record and perspectives, could add their names and support to the movement he represents.”

And on April 17, 1938 in a speech to the National Labor Committee for Palestine, Einstein said, “I should much rather see reasonable agreement with the Arabs on the basis of living together in peace than the creation of a Jewish state. Apart from the practical considerations, my awareness of the essential nature of Judaism resists the idea of a Jewish state with borders, an army, and a measure of temporal power, no matter how modest. I am afraid of the inner damage Judaism will sustain, especially from the development of a narrow nationalism within our own ranks, against which we have already had to fight without a Jewish state.”

Einstein has not been the only voice of reason before every congressman or senator of the US of A must be or declare himself a “Zionist” or lose his/her seat.
Other voices of reason include Noam Chomsky, the recently deceased Howard Zinn, Harold Pinter, Professor Finkelstein, to name a few.

Probably, the most regressive and superstitious fringe of the US citizenry, are the “Christians for Israel” right wing madmen. The leaders of this sect inflame the devotion of their faithful by a superstition exceeding the bounds of the imaginable. That is, when Israel will have conquered the whole Middle East, then and only then Jesus will return to earth.

You may think that religious Israelis should view this prediction with horror, given that Jesus was heretical and killed for being such (at least as the legend goes). But no, the Zionist government of Israel welcomes the “Christians for Israel”.

The cases can only be two, either the rabid Zionists believe in a return of Jesus, but that would be an insult to their intelligence (and their religion). They may be evil but certainly not stupid. Or they welcome such crass idiocy as it supports their policy.

And for those who still believe that “Israel wants peace”, here is a collection of statements by prominent Zionists pertaining to the issue.

There is no such thing as a Palestinian.”—Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir (later parroted by Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum)
“They [the Palestinians] are as grasshoppers in our sight.”—Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir
“The Palestinians are like crocodiles …”—Prime Minister Ehud Barak
“We shall reduce the Palestinians to a community of woodcutters and waiters.”—Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin
“Eretz Israel will be restored to the people of Israel. All of it. And for Ever.”—Prime Minister Menachem Begin
“[The Palestinians] are beasts walking on two legs.”—Begin
“We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it.”—Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon
“There is no Zionism, colonization, or Jewish state without the EVICTION of the Arabs and the expropriation of their lands.”—Sharon
“I believed and to this day still believe, in our people’s eternal and historic right to this entire land.”—Prime Minister Ehud Olmert
“Zionism is a TRANSFER of the Jews.”—David Ben-Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister
Regarding the TRANSFER of the Arabs, this is much easier than any other TRANSFER.”—Ben-Gurion
“The compulsory TRANSFER of the Arabs … could give us something we never had [even in Biblical times].”—Ben-Gurion
“Jewish power, which grows steadily, will also increase our possibilities to carry out the TRANSFER on a large scale.”—Ben-Gurion
“With compulsory TRANSFER we have a vast area … I don’t see anything immoral in it.”—Ben-Gurion
“It is impossible to imagine general EVACUATION without compulsion, and brutal compulsion.”—Ben-Gurion
“There are two issues here: sovereignty and the REMOVAL of a certain number of Arabs; we must insist on both.”—Ben-Gurion
“Before [statehood] our main interest was self-defense … But now the issue at hand is conquest, not self-defense.”—Ben-Gurion
“We should prepare to go over to the offensive. Our aim is to smash Lebanon, Trans-Jordan, and Syria.”—Ben-Gurion
“We must do everything to ensure they [ethnically cleansed Palestinian refugees] never return.”—Ben-Gurion
“[Gaza will suffer] a bigger Shoah [Holocaust]“—Deputy Defense Minister Matan Vilnai, before Israel used white phosphorous on Gaza
“We shall use the ultimate force until Palestinians come crawling to us on all fours.”—Deputy Prime Minister Rafael Eitan
“[When we build settlements] Arabs will only be able to scurry around like drugged cockroaches in a bottle.”—Eitan
“Spirit the penniless [Arab] population across the border by denying it employment.”—Theodore Herzl, the founder of modern Zionism
“The REMOVAL [ethnic cleansing] of the poor [Arabs] must be carried out discreetly and circumspectly.”—Herzl
“It is our right to TRANSFER [ethnically cleanse] the Palestinians!”—Jewish National Fund Director Yossef (Joseph) Weitz
“We [Zionists] all applaud, day and night, the IRON WALL.”—Ze’ev Jabotinsky, spiritual father of the Likud, Begin, Sharon, et al
“This IRON WALL is our policy towards the Arabs. To formulate it any other way would be hypocrisy.”—Jabotinsky
“Zionist colonization … must either be terminated or carried out in defiance of the will of the native population.”—Jabotinsky
“Zionism is a colonizing adventure and, therefore, it stands or falls on the question of armed forces.”—Jabotinsky
“The Arab is culturally backward … his instinctive patriotism … cannot be bought, it can only be curbed [by] major force.”—Jabotinsky
“There is no justice, no law, no God in heaven; only a single law which decides and supersedes all: [Jewish] settlement.”—Jabotinsky
“I devote my life to the rebirth of the Jewish State, with a Jewish majority, on both sides of the Jordan.”—Jabotinsky
“If we desire … a Jewish State, we must first of all create a Jewish majority [by expelling Arabs.]“—Jabotinsky
“If it was possible to TRANSFER the Baltic peoples, it is also possible to TRANSFER the Palestinians.”—Jabotinsky
“The Islamic soul must be broomed [swept, ethnically cleansed] out of Eretz-Yisrael.”—Jabotinsky
“[Muslims are] yelling rabble dressed up in gaudy, savage rags.”—Jabotinsky
“Hitler—as odious as he is to us—has given this idea [ethnic cleansing] a good name in the world.”—Jabotinsky
“The interests of security demand that we get rid of them.” Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett
“TRANSFER [ethnic cleansing] could be the crowning achievement, the final stage in the development of [Zionist] policy …” Sharett
“We are equally determined to explore all possibilities of getting rid, once and for all, of the huge Arab minority …” Sharett
“The killing [of Palestinians] is a good deed, and Jews should have no compunction about it.”—Rabbi Yitzhak Ginsburg
“If there are other inhabitants there, they must be TRANSFERRED to some other place.”—Menachem Ussishkin
“[Land is acquired] by force—that is, by CONQUEST in war, or in other words, by ROBBING land from its owner.”—Ussishkin
“This the land problem … the [Palestinian] Arabs do not want us because we want to be the rulers.”—Ussishkin
“Eventually we will have to thin out the number of Palestinians living in the territories.”—General Eitan Ben Elyahu
“There are no two peoples here. There is a Jewish people and an Arab population.”—Benzion Netanyahu
“We should CONQUER any disputed territory in the Land of Israel. CONQUER and hold it, even if it brings us years of war.“—Netanyahu
“[War with Arabs] will include withholding food from Arab cities, preventing education, terminating electrical power and more.”—Netanyahu
“They won’t be able to exist, and will run away from here. But it all depends on war, and whether we win the battles.”—Netanyahu
“[Operation Cast Lead was] not enough … we should have hit harder.”—Netanyahu
“There is no Palestinian people, so you don’t create a state for an imaginary nation.”—Netanyahu
“They only call themselves a people in order to fight the Jews.”—Netanyahu
“We enthusiastically chose to become a colonialist society, ignoring international treaties, expropriating lands … “—Attorney General Michael Ben-Yair

Do we need any more evidence than what the prime movers of Zionism said themselves, and the terrible things they actually did, which confirm their own self-incriminating words?

Few would have believed that after the 1967 war against the Arabs Israel would not have returned the land stolen to their inhabitants. (UN Resolution 242 – a joke like the US aggressions and annihilation of people and countries to bring them “freedom and democracy”). A look at the map does not require explanations. Not only, but as ex-presidential candidate Pat Buchanan said, “The US Congress is Israeli occupied territory”. To which we should add the banks and the media.

It may behoove the Zionists and the imperialists to remember the following instructive lines, historically proven correct,

“Then every thing includes itself in power,
Power into will, will into appetite;
And appetite, an universal wolf,
So doubly seconded with will and power,
Must make perforce an universal prey,
And last eat up himself” (Troilus and Cressida, act 1, sc. 3)

In the play. The Duke of Albany to his wicked wife Goneril. The offences are those perpetrated by Goneril and her sister Regan against their father Lear

(King Lear, act 2, sc. 2)

Comment. Some visitors of this web-site may have already viewed the horrifying and tragic video of the military Boeing 747 that crashed after take-off in Afghanistan. The plane was loaded with (4) armored vehicles that were to be flown to Dubai, the destination of the flight. It appears that the load of the armored vehicles suddenly shifted, altering beyond recovery the flight attitude of the plane. The video (link at ‘image source’ below), should be viewed in somber thought towards the victims and their families – but it should be also viewed as a macro-example of the bottomless wastefulness of imperialist wars. No one with but a flicker of cogitating capacity, believes any more that the gargantuan military endeavors in Afghanistan or anywhere else have anything to do with ‘democracy ‘ or similar maxi-fibs.
Numbers may be pedantic but, in the instance, they help place into context the criminal costs of a criminal enterprise, without which no such tragedy would have occurred.
Here are approximate but realistic figures.
The Boeing 747-400 is worth 260 million $
The armored vehicles are estimated at 6 million $/each, total 24 million $
Estimate for the insurance covering the seven victims is 15 million $
Estimate for cost of the investigation, recovery etc. 1 million $
Cost of the fuel in the plane was 260 thousand $
The total is already over 300 million $
The options on how to use 300 million $ constructively are almost endless.
One example that comes to mind is the material and mental conditions of so many young people in Chicago. A recent documentary showed how the cycle of unemployment, coupled with poor or non existent education and with the death of manufacturing industries transformed some areas in Chicago into ghettos. Therefore the only employment is the selling of drugs with consequent swelling of violence and prison population.
300 million $ would get a specialized education (factual as well as psychological) to at least 25 thousand youngsters. And considering that the cost of incarceration is about 40 thousand $ per year per inmate, the savings in prison costs resulting from education are not even included.
The idea of manufacturing things (military hardware) for the purpose of their destruction so as to maintain the “economy” is beyond mad. It parallels the mentality of a serial killer.
Already the majority of jobs does not involve manufacturing something. They consist essentially in the conveyance of ideas. An accountant conveys ideas about numbers, a lawyer about laws, a doctor about health practices etc. Job creation does not involve necessarily “building something” but literally inventing jobs, almost detached from the type of characteristics and properties of the typical manufacturing job.
That the matter may not have touched the minds of the pundits, handsomely paid to think about these things, escapes the understanding of many others who think without getting paid.

Or rather, the pundits are getting paid for fostering the mad foreign policies of which the tragedy in question is but one example.

As Harold Pinter said, on accepting the Nobel Prize for Literature,
“… The truth is something entirely different. The truth has to do with how the United States understands its role in the world and how it chooses to embody it.
But before I come back to the present I would like to look at the recent past, by which I mean United States foreign policy since the end of the Second World War. I believe it is obligatory upon us to subject this period to at least some kind of even limited scrutiny, which is all that time will allow here.
Everyone knows what happened in the Soviet Union and throughout Eastern Europe during the post-war period: the systematic brutality, the widespread atrocities, the ruthless suppression of independent thought. All this has been fully documented and verified.
But my contention here is that the US crimes in the same period have only been superficially recorded, let alone documented, let alone acknowledged, let alone recognised as crimes at all. I believe this must be addressed and that the truth has considerable bearing on where the world stands now. Although constrained, to a certain extent, by the existence of the Soviet Union, the United States’ actions throughout the world made it clear that it had concluded it had carte blanche to do what it liked.
Direct invasion of a sovereign state has never in fact been America’s favoured method. In the main, it has preferred what it has described as ‘low intensity conflict’. Low intensity conflict means that thousands of people die but slower than if you dropped a bomb on them in one fell swoop. It means that you infect the heart of the country, that you establish a malignant growth and watch the gangrene bloom. When the populace has been subdued – or beaten to death – the same thing – and your own friends, the military and the great corporations, sit comfortably in power, you go before the camera and say that democracy has prevailed.

Sit down awhile;
And let us once again assail your ears,
That are so fortified against our story…

(Hamlet, act 1, sc. 1)

Comment. There is a common theme in American history that is impossible to ignore and it affects the most extraordinary events. Namely, the nation has the most state-of-the-art, expanded, expensive, capillary, massive, ubiquitous security, police, intelligence and military apparatus in the world. And yet macro-disasters and assassinations occur because the agencies involved with the apparatus have “failed to connect the dots”. A notion that, rather than a metaphor, has become an indictment of the gullibility of those who believe it. It started with Kennedy, assassinated by a “lone” gunman, in turn assassinated by a notorious mobster in the halls of a Texas tribunal under the eyes of the police. Shortly afterwards the mobster died of “cancer” thus providing an easy justification for the matter to be “closed”. The unconnected dots were as big as skyscrapers but no one saw them.

In more recent times this unconnecting of the dots has almost become routine. Therefore, to discredit the unbelievers of the unconnections, the corporate media, guided trumpet of the apparatkit, has invented the sin of “conspiracy theory”. That is, he who disbelieves the apparatkit’s explanations is genetically predisposed to believe in conspiracies.

Take, for example, the case of building 7 of the World Trade Center – go to the March 11, 2013 article on this site and check the video posted under the title, “Shakespeare and the Physics and Mathematics of NIST (National Institute of Science and Technology)”.

The collapse of the WTC7 building looks like the classic controlled demolition. In the video, NIST claims first that the building did not collapse on free fall, because that would mean a controlled demolition. Then, when incontrovertible scientific evidence is given that WTC7 collapsed in free fall NIST changes the story. The video is interesting, because NIST, in a theatrically comical pronouncement, finally admits that the building collapsed in free fall, but it was a special type of free fall that was not really free.

Besides, here is the audio extract of a video interview of Mr. Silverstein, the owner-lessee of the World Trade Center complex, who incidentally, earned over 10 billions (billions not millions) from the 9/11 event. In the audio he states, “We decided to pull it (i.e. building 7)”.

http://www.prisonplanet.com/pullit.mp3

Those who have looked into the matter, know that thousands of architects, engineers, university professors, technicians etc. have proven conclusively that WTC7 was a controlled demolition. That being so, it casts ominous doubts on the whole business of 9/11.

A turn of events, similar in principle though fortunately not in scope, has occurred with the Boston bombing. No place here to deal thoroughly with the matter but let’s point out the most obvious “inconsistencies” in the official story.

The official apparatus, based on a couple of murky shots from a monitoring camera, reconstructed detailed, high resolution pictures of the suspects. Suspects who were clearly in the database of the apparatus. And yet they asked “help from the public” to identify them.

The brothers’ parents, besides insisting on their sons’ innocence, claim they were set up by the American state and “controlled” by the FBI. With what we know, no one can say whether the set-up is true or not. But in recent years the number of failed “terrorist plots”, timely foiled by the FBI is numerous. In most cases (not to say all in respect for accuracy) it turns out that the plotters had been set-up, financed, guided and then “discovered” and indicted by the FBI before committing the crime.

Typical is the case of the five unemployed African-American youngsters in Orlando, Florida, approached by an FBI agent disguised as an Al-Qaida operative. He convinced them to blow up the Sears Tower in Chicago. To start, he gave them money to buy a cheap digital camera and a bus-ticket for a ride from the suburbs to the FBI building in downtown Orlando. Requested by the agent to photograph the building in exchange for some additional money, they did so and as they took the pictures were arrested.

Given this and similar other cases, the set-up theory has a reasonable ring of probability. Patriotic nationalists will believe that the State could not murder its own citizens for political gains. Again, this is an illusion disproved by history, starting from the explosion and sinking of the US ship Maine, with much loss of American life, to justify the invasion of Cuba in 1898.

More historically recent, (1960s), is the now public, so-called “Northwood Plan” to sink a US ship and blame it on Cuba to justify another invasion of the island.

In the Boston case, details continue to emerge over the close surveillance by state intelligence agencies of the Tsarnaevs and their associates.

It is well known that the rebellions in the Caucasus, just as the enrollment of Georgia into NATO are the product of US and Zionist plans to gnaw at Russia for the securing of world domination. The two brothers were probably considered CIA “assets”, an accurate Orwellian word properly equating men with tools for domination.

What went wrong (or “right” if it was another false-flag event) may never become known. But there is now a long trail of state-created fraudulent fabrications and mass-deceptions, all of course devised and carried out in the name of “democracy”.

Therefore it may behoove our ears NOT to be overly fortified against any analysis or (often) plain evidence disproving the official stories peddled by the state and by its subservient corporate media.

In the play. The guard Bernardo has seen the ghost of the slain king of Denmark. Horatio is skeptical and Bernardo attempts to provide evidence of the apparition.

(Hamlet, act 4, sc. 3)

Comment. Nothing can better represent the chasm, the divide, the dichotomy and the abyss between the classes of the 1% and of the 99% than the difference between the funerals of Margaret Thatcher and Hugo Chavez.

Thatcher was honored with the same pomp, circumstance and ceremony as Winston Churchill, almost 60 years ago. But the British public supported Churchill’s farewell ceremony. He had been the leader a national unity government at a pivotal point of XXth century history. In contrast, Thatcher was an object for contempt for millions of Britons. Readers will have watched the chanting crowds jubilating at her death. Radio stations had to be forbidden, by government injunction, to play a song on the air, requested by thousands, “Din Don, the witch is dead”.

Ironically, the funeral and the day of mourning have cost an estimated 16 million dollars to the British taxpayers, including the extra air fare for MPs who interrupted their overseas vacations. The Parliament session was skipped and even Big Ben was prevented from chiming the hours.

The extraordinary mourning and the military parade were mere and simple ideological propaganda. Given the hatred and contempt for Thatcher, the stunt was almost an act of dictatorship by the ruling elite, in celebration of unfettered capitalism and of its twin ally, imperialism. Dictatorial funeral ceremonies for a dictatorial political figure.

Thatcher was the scourge of the unions and the pillar of hard-core capitalism. She relieved the impatient and restless 1% from the intolerable yoke of democracy by orwellianly declaring herself her champion. Her leadership turned government into the rule of a parasitic financial oligarchy. She brought poverty to workers by destroying their source of employment and successfully eroded the foundations of society by claiming that it does not exist.

Yet, notwithstanding the jingoism and nationalistic pride shown at her funeral, it was Thatcher who triggered the conversion of Britain into an obedient and subservient vassal of the US of A.

On the other side of the ocean, and oceans apart in thought and soul, Hugo Chavez was mourned by millions of Venezuelans and millions around the world. Readers will already know about some of Chavez’ achievements – the drop in poverty, the cooperatives, the dramatic improvement in education and the export of oil to Cuba in exchange for doctors so as to provide universal health care in the country. In the US universal health care is a sacrilege, the private insurance system a sacrament, one extra reason to hate Chavez.

Chavez had the audacity to declare that the oil under the ground of Venezuela belongs to the Venezuelans and not to the multinational giants. A revolting and disgusting neo-con congressman on US television claimed unashamedly that this was robbing the rich to give to the undeserving poor.

But there were also those who cheered at Chavez’ death in Florida, the 1% Venezuelan émigrés and the Venezuelan Florida-weekend commuters. Evidence shows that they lost none of their rights or privileges in Venezuela. What they regretted was the loss of status and a reduction in awe by the 99% of the population when they displayed the fruits of rapine in monuments of ostentation.

Wikileaks provided a very interesting and noteworthy document sent by the US Ambassador in Caracas to the State Depaertment. It shows the steps taken and the millions spent by the US to destroy Chavez. No doubt they will now redouble their efforts. They may even succeed.

Still, after decades of imperialist domination, Chavez showed Venezuelans that there is an alternative to slavery and domination. He gave hope to his people and to the people of the world.

If another Horatio were around, he would probably say, “Good night, Hugo Chavez, and flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”

In the play. Hamlet philosophizes on kings, fish and worms.

The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes”

(Julius Caesar, act 2, scene 2)

Comment. The April 15 bombing in Boston continues to dominate the American corporate media. The blasts killed three people and injured over 170.
However, a much more deadly explosion, the West Fertilizer Company in Texas on April 17 has virtually dropped out of the news. The blast killed 14 people and wounded 200, some critically. It destroyed 50 homes, made rubble of a five-block residential area near the plant and severely damaged a school and a nursing home.
The reason for the unprecedented state of siege imposed in Boston was the supposed protection of the population. The scale of the military exercise (including troops, soldiers, police, armored cars, fighter helicopters) was enormous, and all to hunt down one 19-year-old.
The corporate media, instead of raising questions about the imposed state of siege has continued to whip up fear and to glorify what is but an exercise in police state rule.
TV anchors and commentators cheered at the house-to-house searches (incidentally warrantless and formally illegal) and joyed at the killing of one suspect and capture of the other, already savoring the prospect of a forthcoming execution.
And, as almost routine in these recurring cases, the Boston bombing is accompanied by strange and unexplainable circumstances some of which we only mention here,

- The coincident explosion “drill” by a defence-police contractor “Craft International”, deploying an array of personnel, sniffing dogs and associated paraphernalia,

- The first denied and then acknowledged FBI monitoring of the two Chechnyans .

- The dramatically inconsistent performance of two young characters. They obviously had absorbed and imbued the spirit of the American dream when one of them published on the Internet social media that his goals were “career and money”. How could he then give all this up because (presumably, according to George W. Bush’ philosophy), he “envied our freedoms”?

Let a temporary veil be drawn on the unexplained. While the corporate media cheers the bringing-to-justice of the alleged Boston bombers, there is no concern whatsoever for bringing to justice those responsible for the explosion that ripped through West, Texas.

That tragedy is already being treated as just another regrettable but inevitable industrial accident. It may be useful to reflect that, according to statistics, over 4600 workers died from work-related injuries in 2011.

Obama will speak at a memorial service for the victims of the fertilizer plant explosion, to be held at Waco, Texas. Geographically interesting coincidence, as Waco is where the FBI, in another brilliant operation a decade and a half ago, burned 78 people alive, many children.

Media and politicians are indifferent to the killing and maiming of workers due to ignoring safety and health regulations. The regulatory agencies either lack the resources or the willingness to enforce them.

Remember the “regulators” wining and dining with the Shell people before the Gulf of Mexico deadly explosion? Therefore the supposed concern for the safety of the people of Boston smells to high heaven. The corporate media is a living monument of servile corruption.

After the memorial Obama will attend the dedication ceremony for George W. Bush’s library in Dallas on Thursday. He will honor a man, his predecessor in the White House, who gutted federal safety and health agencies and instituted an Orwellian policy of “voluntary self-compliance”. Translation, an invitation for owners to ignore regulations, whatever the cost in the lives and limbs of their employees.

There are both economic and political reasons for the vast difference between the attitude of the state and the media to the events in Boston and the events in West, Texas. Economically, the state is dedicated to protecting private ownership and control of industry and to opposing measures infringing on the “right” of owners to dictate working conditions and maximize profits.

Politically, the ruling elite is pursuing the ongoing agenda of mongering fear and anxiety so as to disorient the public, divert attention from its attack on living standards, and justify the ever increasing militarization for the endless “war on terror.”

Equally, the ruling elite is never exempt from the fear of social discontent leading to social struggle. Testing dictatorial forms of rule, such as those deployed in Boston, prepares for the future.

With reference to the Shakespeare lines, those who died in Texas were certainly not beggars, nor those who died in Boston princes, but – mutatis mutandis – the spirit of the lines accurately represents the impact and treatment of the two tragedies.

In the play. Calpurnia tells husband Caesar that extraordinary and unnatural events signify the impending doom of a VIP in Rome

Where truth is hid, though it were hid indeed
Within the centre.”

(Hamlet, act 2, sc. 2)

Comment. It is too early to know the whole story behind of the Boston bombing – if we will ever know. But from a minimally logical consideration, “it must follow as the night the day” that the massive pomp, circumstance, fanfare, ritual, pageant and grandeur of the “Homeland Security” apparatus has proven essentially useless.

The citizenry is routinely subject to sexual harassment in order to board a plane. But one thought must not have occurred to the illuminati. A lone terrorist among the often-immense queue of people waiting to be X-rayed at an airport could probably kill and maim as many as would be killed by an air crash.

In fact, I suspect that the think-tankists may already be prepared for it. That is, expect an endless multiplication of personal checks and new state-of-the-art equipment to register not only voices but thoughts. Welcome George Orwell’s thought-police! Whereupon any person disgusted and ready to vomit at the US foreign policy of imperialism, bullying, slaughter, torture, regime changes, drones, “colored” revolutions, CIA, NGOs etc. is de-facto a potential terrorist.

Meanwhile what will be cut from Social Security, Medicare and Schools will feed the burgeoning “defence” and “homeland security” industry – and the lobbyists and their masters will proverbially laugh all the way to the bank.

“Authority may be a stubborn bear” when it comes to social spending, but “it can be led by the nose with gold” when it comes to lobbying for “defence”.

We have seen a prelude in the impressive military tank-and-dowdy show in Boston, where literally an army was deployed and 100 square miles of city were declared off limits to her inhabitants. Wait for the movie or the TV serial with commercials by McDonald, Coca Cola and Good Cholesterol drugs.

Still, there is a Euclidian parallel between Sep 11 and the Boston Bombing – the only minor variant is the geography.

Remember Reagan’s mujahidins, the “freedom fighters” armed and trained by the CIA to upset the Soviet Union? The payback (whether concocted or real) was 9/11.

More recently, the CIA and Israel (which is really the same thing, Congress being “Israeli Occupied Territory” as per ex-presidential candidate Pat Buchanan), have been planning regime changes in various countries, including Chechnya and vicinity. The idea is to attempt to break up Russia, last hurdle to complete world domination. In the instance, as there was no longer an issue of “communism”, the mantra was its next best thing, “religion”.

However, it turns out that the “religious” angle of the Caucasus runs counter to the Zionist goals. Once more, regrettably, paying for the misunderstanding are not the masterminds of the disaster, but the innocent. Innocent who probably find it difficult to locate on the map Chechnya, Dagestan or other areas of Central Asia and the Middle East.

But the slaughter of the innocents, for the powers that be, is “collateral damage”. “Another Pearl Harbor” was needed to spend trillions of dollars and millions of lives to attack and destroy several countries and subsequently steal their resources.

We now have had a “mini-Pearl-Harbor” and are eager to see its effects. Still, by masterminding the frenzy of reporting, it is clear that the corporate media has already scored a victory. Witness, for example, the spontaneous chorus of “God bless America” by people in the streets, to celebrate the arrest of a deranged and wounded 19 year old – by a complete army in combat gear with tanks, armored vehicles, helicopters and any thinkable and unthinkable ancillary equipment.

Of course the chanting raises another question. Why did not God decide to bless America a few days earlier, to prevent the bombing? And why God does not bless the minds of those who do not (or pretend not to) understand one fundamental issue?

The issue is not “hid within the centre” but in plain view. Until Israel withdraws from the territories illegally occupied in the 1967 war the US-Israel imperialist combine will continue to be the target of universal hatred not only by the people directly involved but by all who share a common understanding of justice and civilization.

That in a Christian climate souls refined
Should show so heinous, black, obscene a deed!”

(King Richard II, act 4, sc. 1)

Comment. To add adjectives to the Boston horror is useless. That beings supposedly human be capable of such an act voids the very meaning of humanity. Sociologically speaking, however, the event lends itself to some considerations.

To start, the episode soon turned into a frenzy by the corporate media, eager to capitalize on sensationalism and actual hysteria. As of the writing of this article, it is unknown whether the crime was the work of one person or an organization, domestic or foreign.

Still, the nation, including the people of Boston, however saddened and shocked by the event, have remained calm – but the media and their leading agents created a picture of disorientation and panic. This is not accidental, as the media establishment attempts to sow fear and confusion to justify past police state measures at home and wars abroad, carried out in the name of the “war on terror”. It also prepares the way for a further militarization of American society.

Events such as the Boston bombing ultimately reflect the immense social crisis and increasingly toxic contradictions of America. The bombing has left hundreds of families scarred for life. But it just so happens that mass killings, carried out more frequently with automatic weapons than with bombs, are a regular occurrence in the United States.

Furthermore, the mass killing of 11 children by US bombing in Afghanistan last week (see image) has barely made it (if at all) to the corporate media.

That is, the onslaught of heartfelt compassion by the corporate media for the Boston victims is incontrovertible evidence of reflexive doublethink, described by Orwell as the willingness to forget any fact that has become inconvenient.

The front page of the New York Times says, “Boston Bombs Were Loaded to Maim, Officials Say” and the article describes how nails and ball bearings were stuffed into pressure cookers “rigged to shoot sharp bits of shrapnel into anyone within reach of their blast.”

However, in the very recent past, much less crude 1,000 pounds “CBU-87/B” bombs, classified as “combined effects munitions” were unleashed on Serbia. And in the San Francisco Chronicle edition of May 8, 1999 we read, “On Friday, at noontime, U.S.-led NATO forces dropped cluster bombs on the city of Nis, in the vicinity of a vegetable market. The bombs struck next to the hospital complex and near the market, bringing death and destruction, peppering the streets of Serbia’s third-largest city with shrapnel.” And: “In a street leading from the market, dismembered bodies were strewn among carrots and other vegetables in pools of blood. A dead woman, her body covered with a sheet, was still clutching a shopping bag filled with carrots.” And John Simpson, BBC correspondent, wrote in the Sunday Telegraph, “Cluster bombs explode in the air and hurl shards of shrapnel over a wide radius. Used against human beings, cluster bombs are some of the most savage weapons of modern warfare.”

Paul Watson of the Los Angeles Times, reporting from Pristina, Yugoslavia, wrote: “During five weeks of airstrikes, witnesses here say, NATO warplanes have dropped cluster bombs that scatter smaller munitions over wide areas. In military jargon, the smaller munitions are bomblets. Dr. Rade Grbic, a surgeon and director of Pristina’s main hospital, sees proof every day that the almost benign term bomblet masks a tragic impact. Grbic, who saved the lives of two ethnic Albanian boys wounded while other boys played with a cluster bomb found Saturday, said he had never done so many amputations.”

The LA Times article quoted Dr. Grbic: “I have been an orthopedist for 15 years now, working in a crisis region where we often have injuries, but neither I nor my colleagues have ever seen such horrific wounds as those caused by cluster bombs.” He added: “They are wounds that lead to disabilities to a great extent. The limbs are so crushed that the only remaining option is amputation. It’s awful, awful.”

And these friendly devices were dispatched by the “democratic” and “compassionate” Bill Lewinsko Clinton.

Still, the U.S. State Department remains opposed to outlawing those weapons, declaring on its official website: “Cluster munitions have demonstrated military utility. Their elimination from U.S. stockpiles would put the lives of its soldiers and those of its coalition partners at risk.”

The State Department position statement adds: “Moreover, cluster munitions can often result in much less collateral damage than unitary weapons, such as a larger bomb or larger artillery shell would cause, if used for the same mission.”

Perhaps the Boston bomber(s) who stuffed nails and ball bearings into pressure cookers were following the State Department “guidelines”.

Still, it is not certain if last week’s murder of the 11 children in the picture was the result of a “cluster” or “conventional” bomb.

Which really, to the perpetrators of this endless series of crimes against humanity, it does not matter. Safe behind massive layer of security, they can very well pretend sympathy for the family of the dead and for the wounded. After all they are safe from bombs and safe from prosecution.

In the play. The Bishop of Carlysle, faithful to the deposed King Richard II, upbraids usurper Bolingbroke and company. ‘Forfend’ = ‘Forbid’.
